About Dr. Mark Hornfeld, D.O.

 

Operating a private ophthalmology practice since 1996, Dr. Mark Hornfeld specializes in CustomVue laser vision correction at his New York City Vista Laser Vision offices. CustomVue surgical techniques allow Dr. Hornfeld to uniquely measure and correct a patient’s vision with results that can exceed those of contacts or glasses.In addition to his private practice, Dr. Mark Hornfeld is an Attending Physician at the Fifth Avenue Surgicenter, Gotham LASIK Center, and the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Recently, he began practicing surgery at the MacKool Eye Institute in Astoria, New York.Dr. Hornfeld earned a B.S. in Biology at The State University of New York at Albany. Subsequently, he was awarded his D.O. from The New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, New York, in 1988. Dr. Mark Hornfeld was trained as an internal medicine resident and medical oncology fellow from 1989 through 1993 at the Cabrini Medical Center in New York City. He pursued further training in ophthalmology at Saint Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center in New York City, where he became Chief Resident in 1995.

Dr. Mark Hornfeld has been board certified by both the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Ophthalmology. He holds memberships in the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the New York Society of Ophthalmic Surgeons, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Hornfeld’s humanitarian service includes work as a surgeon at the Aravind Eye Hospital in Madurai, India, in 1996. He currently provides charitable support to The Hunger Project.
